Professor Garrett views the classroom and learning as a series of interactions and attempts to provide students with opportunities to recognize and reflect on their experiences and to develop strategies for personal growth, scholarly development, and social change.

Work experience includes four years as a staff nurse in Obstetrics at Daviess Community Hospital, two years as a staff nurse at Seton Medical Center in Harker Heights Texas in Surgical Services, two years as a staff nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in surgical services and one year as a staff nurse on a medical surgical floor at Sullivan County Community Hospital. Professor Garrett finds that the best part of teaching at Vincennes University is the welcoming environment and staff that truly care about the wellbeing and success of their students.  I felt this feeling as a student going through these programs, and this is why I wanted to come back as a faculty member.
