Taught Medical-Surgical Nursing levels II and III for three years; Taught Maternal-Newborn clinical for three semesters; Taught in Transitions Lab (1 semester); Taught Health Care Policy (1 semester); Pathophysiology (1 semester)

Currently teaching Professional Nursing (4 semesters), Informatics (5 semesters), Quality and Safety (6 semesters), and Pharmacology for Nurses (3 years).

Professor Halter considers the student to be an adult learner who have varied backgrounds and experiences.  These experiences can be used to show the relevance of learning content as well as allow students to reflect on how to improve the quality of care they provide.  Professor Halter believes in varied learning activities that motivate learners to attain personal and educational goals in a setting that supports mutual respect.

Work experience includes 9 years as a staff nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in both a telemetry step-down unit and an Obstetrics unit.

Professor Halter finds that the best part of being a nursing professor is helping current registered nurses become a better version of themselves.  They already have the basic knowledge of a registered nurse, but through the bachelor level courses, students are able to expand their knowledge and to see the impact of patient-centered care, collaboration, and communication have on patient outcomes.
