This program satisfies the Nursing Transfer Single Articulation Pathway (TSAP) created under Indiana Senate Enrolled Act 182 passed in 2013. The purpose of the Associate of Science in Nursing program is to prepare graduates to assess, plan, implement, direct and evaluate the nursing care of individuals or groups of clients in a variety of settings. Graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) to become Registered Nurses (RNs).
State Licensure/Certification Information
Indiana Code Section 39.IC 25-23-1-11 requires that any person who applies to the board for a license to practice as a registered nurse must not have (a) been convicted of a crime that has a direct bearing on the person’s ability to practice competently; or (b) committed an act that would constitute grounds for a disciplinary sanction under IC 25-1-9. The RN provides a unique, comprehensive assessment of the health status of the patient, applying principles of ethics, patient safety, health promotion and the nursing process. The nurse then develops and implements an explicit plan of care. The nurse assists patients to promote health, cope with health problems, adapt to and/or recover from the effects of disease or injury, and support the right to a dignified death. The RN is accountable for abiding by all applicable member board jurisdiction statutes related to nursing practice. (NCSBN, 2013).
