VINCENNES, Ind. - Indiana’s logistics industry is thriving, and Vincennes University is matching that momentum with a 30,000-square-foot training center built for real-world learning. The Logistics Training and Education Center (VU LTEC) in Plainfield, Indiana, sets the next generation of supply chain leaders in motion.

Through a new partnership with Butler University’s Lacy School of Business, students are stepping out of the classroom and into a fully operational distribution environment — one built and led by Vincennes University.  VU LTEC isn’t a simulation like you’d expect from a typical classroom. It’s a working logistics hub equipped with industry-grade technology and systems: racking and storage, power jacks and forklifts, pick-to-light order fulfillment, truck docks, cobots and industrial robots — the same tools used by leading logistics and manufacturing companies across the nation.“We believe the best way to prepare tomorrow’s workforce is through hands-on, career-ready learning,” said Dave Tucker, Vice President for Workforce Development and Community Service at Vincennes University. “This collaboration shows what’s possible when higher education partners come together to deliver real skills and real experience. Through immersive exercises and faculty-led simulations, students experience every aspect of the logistics process — from receiving and safety checks to warehouse optimization and automation ROI. These lessons are rooted in VU’s signature approach: experiential education that connects learning directly to high-demand careers.

The partnership between VU LTEC and Butler demonstrates the growing recognition of Vincennes University’s leadership in logistics education. As Indiana’s first college and one of America’s most historic universities, VU continues to set the pace for innovation in hands-on training — preparing graduates who don’t just understand logistics but are ready to lead it.  Students walk away with a deeper appreciation for how theory meets practice — and with skills they can use immediately. They leave more confident, capable, and prepared to succeed in one of the fastest-growing sectors in Indiana and across the nation.

One of Vincennes University’s core strengths lies in partnerships like this one, yet on a global level. Through close collaboration with Amazon, Toyota, Walmart, Hershey, and other leading employers, VU connects education to the real world—helping students gain the skills, confidence, and experience to thrive in the logistics and supply chain fields that drive our economy. At the Logistics Training and Education Center in Plainfield and across the state, VU works hand-in-hand with industry to design programs that meet evolving workforce needs. From customized training and certifications to hands-on learning environments, every partnership reflects the University’s mission to serve students, strengthen communities, and support the employers that keep America moving.
