 Experience VU Tutor (2 positions) – Vincennes, IN

Part-time

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for an Experience VU Disability Student Support Services (SSS) Professional Tutor (2 positions).

Disability Student Support Services is a federally funded TRIO program which provides academic assistance and non-cognitive strategies to qualifying college students in all aspects of the college experience, with a goal to assist with retention, graduation, and transfer to four-year degree programs.

This is a part-time (14 hours a week at $15.00/ hour) Support Staff position with no benefits.

Work Hours will vary dependent upon Professional Tutor’s schedule. The Open Tutoring Labs are available to students Monday through Friday between 8 am and 7 pm.

A part-time VU staff member may only work a maximum of 28 hours per week; no matter how many different departments the staff member works.

This position has responsibilities such as:

  • Competency in tutoring subjects

  • Attends tutor orientation and training

  • Documents the tutoring sessions in the student’s tutoring file

  • Monitors and assesses the student’s progress in classes

  • Reports no-shows for tutoring to SSS Educational Coaches and Director

  • Documents bi-weekly timesheets

  • Maintains FERPA, HIPAA

  • Work as a collaborative team member

  • Reports to the SSS Director

Vincennes University’s Office of Admissions is looking for an exceptional individual with both interpersonal and organizational skills to serve as an Admissions Counselor maintaining an Indiana/Illinois recruitment territory.

Special Projects Manager (Generations) – Vincennes, IN

Part-Time

Vincennes University is seeking applications for a Special Projects Manager (Generations). This is a partl-time support staff position.

The Special Projects Manager is responsible for:

 

  1. Serve as the lead staff member to develop and implement a Marketing plan for Generations.

  2. Work with the Executive Director to provide coordination and oversight of the Strategic and Area Plans.

  3. Work with appropriate staff to provide coordination and oversight of special projects until project completion or integration into the department.

This position is responsible for:

 

  • Marketing and Outreach

  • Work with the Community Resource Coordinator to create and implement an annual Marketing and Outreach Plan that creates a stronger brand identity for Generations and enhances community partnerships.

  • Update and maintain the Generations speech and power point presentation.

  • Create talking points and/or elevator speech regarding Generations.

  • Create a packet of information to be used in advocacy efforts that can easily be modified as issues arise.

  • Responsible for coordination with all staff to fulfill all outreach activities including presentations, senior fairs, workshops etc.

  • Strategic/Area Plan

  • Oversight of needs assessment as required by funders.

  • Work with Executive Director to develop time line and planning for Strategic and Area Plans and responsible for monitoring completion of time lines and quarterly reports from staff.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Strategic Plan every four years.

  • Coordinate and assist with the development of a new Area Plan every two years or as required by the Division of Aging.

  • Special Projects

  • Coordinate the implementation of special projects such as Ramp Up, Dementia Friends etc.

  • Oversight of one time projects that address such issues as Elder Justice and Emergency Preparedness for older adults.

     

    Management Responsibilities

  1. Maintain accurate knowledge of and comply with the general guidelines, policies, and procedures of the funding sources accessed for clients.

  2. Submit monthly management reports.

Community and Public Relations

  • Maintain an effective professional relationship with community resources, providers of service, and other staff.

Primary Function:

Graphic Designer – Vincennes, IN

Full-Time Print Media Services

 

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for a Graphic Designer. This is a full-time support staff position with benefits. This position is part of Vincennes University’s Print Media Services team and will be responsible for facilitating the production of creative print and digital materials.

Primary Function:

 

The position will develop, design, edit and produce a variety of print and digital communication materials in a variety of print and electronic formats. All material must exhibit excellence and accuracy in design and content, as well as adherence to Vincennes University brand guidelines. In particular, this position will design and produce University presentations, technical documents, faculty projects, advertisements, etc. This position will interact with all levels of staff and must demonstrate a strong commitment to providing superior service. The Print Media Services team also includes the University Mailroom and Document Imaging Departments. As such, this position will be expected to work as team to ensure the successful operation of Print Media Services.

This position is responsible for:

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

 

  • Meet with faculty and staff to generate design ideas

  • Select photos for project use and/or produce new photos and graphics

  • Layout page designs and set type

  • Create design proofs for faculty and staff approval

  • Collaborate with outside design and printing firms

  • Design and prepare files for document imaging and/or color printing

  • Collect fonts and graphics for output and prepare files for outside printers

  • Maintain archive of design files

  • Maintain and upkeep Print Media Services Server

     

ESSENTIAL SKILLS:

 

  • Strong experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office Suite

Math Learning Coach (Center Grove) – Center Grove, IN

Vincennes University is seeking applicants for the position of Learning Coach at Center Grove Early College in Center Grove, IN.   This part-time, Support Staff, position reports to the Assistant Dean of Instruction at Vincennes University.

The Math Learning Coach must have experience in tutoring students in college algebra. He/she will support a stimulating learning environment to enrich the lives of students who are struggling in their academic classes. The Math Learning Coach engages in personalized interaction with students, uses effective communication and feedback tools, works to create a sense of community, and provides support and encouragement to the students.

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

Tutor students in areas such as:

  • College algebra in a classroom setting and by appointment
  • Accuplacer math preparation for successful placement into college courses

Work one-on-one with students on things such as:

  • Study skills
  • Test taking strategies

Work with Vincennes University’s Assistant Dean and English Learning College with things such as:

Provide ongoing communication with teachers, parents, students, and counselors regarding the academic progress of individual students who are referred to them by counselors/teachers to receive assistance and academic support.

Upward Bound Instructors – Vincennes, IN

Part-Time, Temporary

Vincennes University's Upward Bound Program is seeking applicants to fill up to six (6) positions for Academic Instructors. These are temporary, part-time positions that will run from June 9, 2019, through July 16, 2019. These positions are pending continued funding from the Department of Education.

 

Responsibilities for the position are as follows:

 

  1. Teach Academic Classes: Literature/Composition, Mathematics (Algebra through Calculus), Laboratory Science (Biology and Chemistry) or Foreign Language. The following positions are needed: Literature/Composition (1-2), Mathematics (1-2), Science (1), and Foreign Language (1).

  2. In cooperation with the Director, decide and agree upon curriculum offerings for the Instructor's particular area.

  3. Write general objectives for each course of instruction. Submit a syllabus for each subject taught as well as a Pre-test and Post-test.

  4. Be available as needed for individual conferences with students possessing different needs or who are at different levels of attainment. During these sessions, such areas as goal setting and study skills should be explored.

  5. Write academic assessments on students at mid-term and at the end of program indicating level of success achieved in meeting objectives and provide assistance with completing participant educational plans.

  6. Conduct exit review with each student to discuss progress and ideas for improvement.

  7. Attend orientation and training sessions prior to summer program.

  8. Attend staff meetings as arranged.

  9. Participate in evaluation of the summer program (student and staff evaluations).

  10. Participate in field trips or outings as assigned by Director.

Vincennes University's Upward Bound Program is seeking applicants to fill up to six (6) positions for Summer Program Advisors.   1. A Summer Program Advisor will offer summer program students significant opportunities for growth and motivation as a mentor.

Xmester Summer Residential Program

Xmester is a summer residential experience for high school students entering their senior year. Xmester scholars earn college credits and invaluable experience at Vincennes University during the first week of Xmester. Scholars can enroll in a one-week two credit hour experience held at Vincennes University or a three-credit hour two-week experience held at Vincennes University and an approved Early College site.

 

Campus Life Assistants Position Description

The Campus Life Assistants (CLA) facilities the academic, social, and personal adjustment of Xmester scholars to campus life and residence hall living. The CLA develops and maintains an atmosphere consistent with Xmester goals and promotes a sense of community through extracurricular activities, cocurricular activities, and personal development opportunities. The CLA enforces the rules and policies of Xmester Academic Life, Xmester Residence Life, Tecumseh Dining Center, Physical Education Complex, and the University.

We anticipate hiring fourteen highly motivated Campus Life Assistants.

 

Essential Duties

Community Builder

  • as the first point of contact for Xmester scholars.
  • Assist with residence hall move-in.

  • Lead residence hall orientation sessions.

  • Facilitate trust-building exercises to foster a supportive community.

  • Promote an appreciation for multiculturalism.

  • Eat with residents in Tecumseh Dining Center on the first two days of Xmester.

University Ambassador

  • Represent and support the mission and values of the University.

  • Lead a campus tour or scavenger hunt.

  • Serve as a role model to Xmester scholars by showcasing a positive attitude and willingness to serve.

  • Provide students with an introduction to the resources available to them at VU.

Activities Leader

  • Manage all Xmester extracurricular activities.

  • Chaperone campus activities such as the pool party, bowling, and outdoor movie.

  • Develop and lead residence hall floor programming.

Overnight On-Campus Resident Assistant

  • Live on campus in housing with Xmester scholars for the duration of the Xmester program.

  • Serve as the CLA on-duty one night during the Xmester program.

  • Remain on-duty throughout entirety of the program.

  • Attend and participate in trainings and meetings.

  • Promptly communicate student concerns with the appropriate Residence Life administrator.

  • Relate well to scholars of all ethnic, cultural, religious, racial, and gender backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At the time of application, the candidate must have a minimum of 15 completed semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.6 or higher. Credits obtained do not include dual credit or AP credits earned while enrolled in high school.

  • Successful candidates must have completed 30 semester hours post-high school by June 5, 2019.

  • Applicants must be actively involved in campus activities or community activities.

  • The candidate must have excellent organization and interpersonal relationship skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in residence life or leading campus activities.

  • Experience supervising youth.

Compensation

Housing, meals, extracurricular activities, and transportation to and from Vincennes University is covered for Campus Life Assistants. Transportation reimbursement is limited to travel within Indiana. Campus Life Activities will earn a stipend for participating in the summer residential program at Vincennes University.
