Special Admissions Procedures
VU's Admission Procedure IF you have a Criminal History
Let’s Get You Started
Vincennes University believes a safe environment is necessary for optimal learning, and it is the goal of the University to ensure all those admitted to the institution are committed to maintaining such an environment for themselves and their fellow members of the University community.
All applicants that have ever been adjudicated guilty, convicted of a felony, or other crime must submit a completed Felony Charge Form, including a personal statement addressing the criminal charge(s), and any other documentation the applicant believes supports their statement.
This form is printable and fillable. Completed form(s) are to be returned to the address noted on the bottom of the form. Once the completed form is received and reviewed, the Office of Admissions may then decide to approve the admission application, deny the application, or refer the application for further inquiry and review. Please note, an application will NOT be reviewed for admission until the completed form is received by the VU Office of Admissions. Individuals may appeal denied applications with the Background Appeal Committee. All Background Appeal Committee decisions are final.

The Admissions Office may also notify applicants that they will be required to pay the fee necessary to complete a criminal background check; a background check provided by the applicant will not be sufficient. Students admitted to Vincennes University and is later discovered to have lied or not been completely truthful about their criminal history, will be subject to immediate dismissal from the institution.
Felony Application Deadlines
- Fall Semester - July 15th
- Spring Semester - December 1st
- Summer Semester - May 1st
*Please be advised that felony charges may prevent a student from entering a degree program or from obtaining work in that field upon graduation. Even if a student's background check is cleared by the Admissions Office the student should have a conversation about the charges with his/her academic advisor, prior to beginning a degree program, to ensure the possibility of job placement after program completion.
