Find the perfect plan tailored to where you live and how you eat.

1. Residential Student Plans

Required for students living in traditional on-campus residence halls.

  • 19 Meal Plan: Perfect for students who want every meal covered. Includes 3 meals a day (Monday–Friday), Brunch and Dinner (Saturday–Sunday), $100 Blazer Bucks, and 5 Meal Exchanges per semester.
  • 14 Meal Plan: Our most popular plan. Mix and match 14 meals per week however you like. Includes $150 Blazer Bucks and 4 Meal Exchanges per semester.
  • 10 Meal Plan: Great for students who light-eat or go home on weekends. Mix and match 10 meals per week. Includes $250 Blazer Bucks and 3 Meal Exchanges per semester.

2. Off-Campus & Commuter Block Plans

Designed for Commuters, Off-Campus Residents, and students living in French Quarter & 3rd Street Apartments.

Unlike residential weekly plans, Block Plans give you a balance of meals to use at any time throughout the entire semester at the TDC. They offer ultimate flexibility with no weekly limits!

  • 150 Meal Block: 150 total meals per semester to use whenever you want at the TDC.
  • 100 Meal Block: 100 total meals per semester to use whenever you want at the TDC.
  • 50 Meal Block: 50 total meals per semester to use whenever you want at the TDC.

Pro-Tip: You can add Blazer Bucks to any block plan at any time to spend at Starbucks or the JSU Cafe!

Dining 101: Key Terms & FAQ

Who counts as an "Off-Campus" student?

If you don't live in a traditional on-campus residence hall, you are an off-campus student! This includes commuters driving to campus, students renting off-campus housing, and students living in VU's French Quarter Apartments or 3rd Street Apartments. While residential students are required to have a plan, off-campus students can choose to add one for ultimate convenience and savings!

What are Block Meals?

Block meals are a pool of meals you buy upfront, available exclusively to off-campus and commuter students (including those living in the French Quarter and 3rd Street Apartments). If you have a 50-block plan, you can use 3 meals one week and 10 meals the next week until your balance runs out. They offer total flexibility, never expire week-to-week, and can be used for any meal period at the Tecumseh Dining Center (TDC).

Note: Block plans do not include meal exchanges and do not roll over to the next semester.

What are Blazer Bucks?

Think of Blazer Bucks as a tax-free debit card built into your student ID. They can be used just like cash at JSU Cafe and LRC Starbucks. Best of all, your unused Blazer Bucks roll over from the Fall semester to the Spring semester!

What are Exchange Meals?

Want a change of scenery or need food outside of TDC hours? Residential meal plans include "Exchange Meals" which let you swap a TDC meal for a designated meal package at the JSU Cafe when the TDC is closed!

Can I change my meal plan later?

Yes, but timing is everything! You can freely change your meal plan during the first week of classes or between semesters. Once the first week of classes ends, your plan is locked in for the remainder of that semester.

What options are available for students with food allergies or dietary restrictions (vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free)?

The Tecumseh Dining Center (TDC) clearly labels menu items for common allergens and dietary preferences. If you have severe allergies or specific medical dietary needs, please contact our Dining Director to arrange a personalized meeting with our culinary team.

Can I use my meal plan to treat a guest or family member?

No, but you can use cash or credit to pay for a guest's meal at any of our dining locations.

Do my weekly residential meals roll over if I don’t use them?

No. For the 19, 14, and 10 meal plans, your meal balance resets every week, on Thursday the meal plan week ends and Friday starts a new week.

Unused meals do not roll over to the next week, so be sure to use them! (Remember, Blazer Bucks do roll over from Fall to Spring).

How do I check my remaining meal or Blazer Bucks balance?

You can contact the dining center to check your balance of Blazer Bucks or off-campus meal plan.

What should I do if I lose my student ID card?

Report your lost card immediately to the Financial Services Office to deactivate it so no one else uses your meals or Blazer Bucks. A replacement card can be issued for a small fee.
