The State of Indiana will soon require a 4-year teaching license for those wishing to teach prekindergarten-aged children in state-funded programs. This license is also required by those who operate certified private pre-school day-care centers and programs. Teachers working for Indiana Head Start are presently required to have an associate degree in Early Childhood Education or a related area. This major provides a good foundation for those wishing to transfer to a four-year program in Early Childhood Education.

Students selecting this curriculum will begin their preparations for a career as elementary education teachers in grades K through 6. These courses provide the first two years of a four-year degree program leading to teacher licensing. The curriculum can also provide the foundation for careers in a variety of child-care occupations other than teaching.

STUDENTS MUST BE ADMITTED to Vincennes University Distance Education - Online Campus. Once admitted to the University, then the student will APPLY TO THE FSE PROGRAM which has a separate admission process. Admission to the FSE program is granted each Fall semester by the DEPARTMENT OF FUNERAL SERVICE Division Office. (Students may take general education classes prior to the fall semester that will apply towards the major requirements of the program.)

Distance Education students will be required to travel to Indiana to complete required embalmings and embalming certification at an approved preceptor site. In addition, students must travel to the Vincennes University Vincennes Campus to complete the restorative art principles application review. These travel requirements will occur during the final spring semester of the program. Students will schedule embalmings with preceptors at approved sites with permission of the Program Chair. Students are required to complete a minimum of 10 embalmings under Preceptor and Chair supervision. Additional schedule information regarding the embalming certification and restorative art principles review will be provided by the Program Chair. (The student is responsible for all expenses for traveling to and from the visit, as well as food and lodging expenses.)

• The following course/s will require your physical presence: FNRL 250L: Embalming II Laboratory, Restorative Art Principles Application Review - THIS PROGRAM HAS SPECIFIC ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS. SEE CATALOG ENTRY FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

This program is designed for non-traditional students who have attained Journeyman or equivalent in a skilled trade and wish to fulfill the basic requirements for an Associate degree. The program provides flexibility by allowing students to receive credit for training received through a certified Department of Labor apprenticeship program (7200 hours minimum) or an evaluation conducted by Vincennes University.

In addition to these credits, students must complete selected general education courses and fulfill a minimum residency requirement of no less than fifteen credit hours through Vincennes University. SEE CATALOG ENTRY FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The Health Information Management Program requires that all students submit a criminal history report and a drug screen as instructed and at student's expense. Students should be aware that any previous or current conviction of a crime or current substance abuse may result in ineligibility to be admitted and or/continue in the program. Students are responsible for submitting (at their expense) any required health forms or other documentation required by the University/Professional Practice sites (PPE).

• The following course/s will require your physical presence: HIMT 190 - Professional Practice, HIMT 240 - Professional Practice II (These course are only available in the Fall and Spring semesters for Distance Ed. students. Students will need to use different clinical sites for HIMT 190 and HIMT 240.) THIS PROGRAM HAS SPECIFIC ADMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS. SEE CATALOG ENTRY FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION.

Admission into this baccalaureate degree program is contingent on acceptance to Vincennes University and will require approval of the Homeland Security and Public Safety Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Business and Convergent Technologies.

This A.S. degree program is designed for students wishing to begin employment immediately upon receiving their degree.

Registered Nurses who have completed an Associate Degree or diploma from a program that is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN, formerly NLNAC) may apply for admission to the RN to BSN program.

Applicants must possess a Registered Nurse license prior to beginning any clinical nursing courses. With a limited number of positions available, applicants are encouraged to pay attention to posted application deadlines. Students enrolled in the RN to BSN Program have the option of taking courses full time or part time, but the Program must be completed within 5 years of the first nursing course. Program start dates include Fall (August) and Spring (January).

Admission into the base 8000 B.S. Technology baccalaureate degree program requires the prospective student to possess an A.S. degree from an accredited institution. Acceptance into any of the into any of the B.S. Technology concentrations (Agribusiness, Construction Management, Information Technology, Management and Leadership, or Surveying Management) requires prior completion of a relevant A.S. degree from an accredited institution. Acceptance into this program will be granted through the approval of the Technology Baccalaureate Degree Department Chair and the Dean of Technology.
