Why Vincennes University:
After moving back to my hometown area of Dubois County, I knew I wanted to work and
serve within the community that I lived, but wanted to keep serving within a higher
education role. The position of Counselor opened at VUJ and I knew immediately that
it was going to be the perfect fit for me. I enjoy working at a smaller campus that
has the real feel of a tight knit community.
Carissa Sandoval started as the Counselor at VUJ in October of 2021. She previously
worked at the University of Evansville as the Disability Services Counselor. Carissa
is a native of Dubois County. She graduated from the University of Southern Indiana
with a Bachelor and Master of Social Work. She has since become a Licensed Clinical
Social Worker. Carissa has always enjoyed working within higher education and is committed
to helping improve students’ personal and academic experiences.
