February 5, 2019 / Trailblazers maintain No. 2 national ranking

VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University men’s basketball team once again held down the No. 2 spot in the NJCAA Division I national poll released Tuesday.

The Trailblazers (22-1) are ranked second for the second straight week. They received three first-place votes and 385 points in the latest poll.

Florida SouthWestern State is ranked No. 1 with 13 first-place votes and 397 points. The top four spots remain unchanged from the previous week. Coffeyville (363) is No. 3, while Northwest Florida State (353) is ranked fourth. District 16 foe John A. Logan jumped one spot to fifth.

VU has been been ranked as high as No. 1 this season. The Trailblazers have notched seven straight wins and topped 100 points in the last three games.

On Monday night, they posted a 102-50 win against visiting Shawnee. They beat Lake Land 114-58 on Saturday and crushed Southeastern Illinois 122-41 last Wednesday.

The Trailblazers play Kaskaskia Saturday in a District 16 contest inside the P.E. Complex. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

A women’s game between VU and Kaskaskia starts at 5 p.m.
