PARK HILS, Mo. -- The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball team continued its hot start to the season on Saturday.

The Trailblazers improved to 9-0 with a 89-52 win over Fort Scott on the final day of the Chris Morrison State Farm Thanksgiving Classic.

Lony Francis, Jr. and George Dixo n combined to score the first 20 points as the Trailblazers raced out to a 20-4 lead and never looked back.

“They anchored the middle and really set the tone early for us,” VU coach Todd Franklin said.

The Trailblazers led 42-24 at the break and were never threatened in the second half.

Francis finished with a season-high 20 points, while Dixon added 14.

Keith Clemons finished with 17 points, while Craig Porter (10) and Colton Sandage (8) combined for 18 in the win.

The 2-0 record was the third straight undefeated finish in Classics this season as VU also went 2-0 in both the Kiwanis and Sodexo Classics.

“I thought we had overall better intensity today than what we played with on Friday,” Franklin said. “And we are looking forward to getting back home for two games this week in front of our home crowd.”

VU plays host to Lake Land on Wednesday with a 7 p.m. tip-off.
