Dr. Tamera Halter named Dean of College of Health Sciences and Human Performance

VINCENNES, Ind. –  Vincennes University Provost Jaci Lederman announced the appointment of Dr. Tamera "Tammy" Halter as the new Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance.

Lederman said, “Dr. Halter’s extensive clinical background in addition to more than a decade of proven academic leadership at Vincennes University make her the perfect choice to lead the college. Her deep commitment to VU students and faculty will ensure our programs continue to excel and serve the evolving needs of our state, region, and nation."

Halter steps into her new role on Aug. 6. She takes over from Interim Dean Dr. Jason King.

An associate professor within the College of HSHP, Halter joined VU in 2012. Since 2018, she has served as the director of the RN-BSN Completion Program.

Halter said, "I am excited to serve as Dean of the College of Health Sciences and Human Performance. I look forward to supporting our academic community, building on our strong foundation, and preparing the next generation of healthcare and human performance leaders.”

She has over 20 years of clinical experience. Her robust healthcare career spans acute care, long-term care, and specialized nursing services, including obstetrics and medical-surgical.

Halter holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) from Indiana State University, a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) in Nursing Education from the University of Southern Indiana, and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Indiana University/Purdue University Indianapolis. She is a Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) through the National League for Nursing and maintains active memberships with the National RN-Baccalaureate Faculty Forum, the Indiana Organization for Nursing Leadership (IONL), and the Indiana League for Nursing (ILN).
