VU to host events commemorating 25th anniversary of 9/11

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University will host a series of remembrance events to mark the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the community are invited to join VU in honoring and remembering those who were lost on that tragic day in 2001.

Thursday, Sept. 10

3 p.m. - Flag Display Setup

Location: VU Track (Infield), 201 W. Red Skelton Blvd.

Placement of memorial flags.

Friday, Sept. 11

4:30 p.m. - Flag Retreat Ceremony and Bell Ringing

Location: Homeland Security Building (Exterior Flagpole), 121 E. St. Clair St.

Formal flag retreat ceremony accompanied by a memorial bell ringing.

5 p.m. - First Responder Memorial Walk

Location: VU Track, 201 W. Red Skelton Blvd.

Participants will walk 441 laps to honor each of the first responders lost in the attacks.

The Conservation Law Enforcement, Homeland Security and Public Safety, Criminology and Criminal Justice, Fire Science and Blazers Achieve programs are hosting the events.
