After earning her associate degree in Chemical Sciences with a Pre-Pharmacy and Clinical Sciences concentration, she is transferring to the Purdue University College of Pharmacy, a program ranked No. 8 in the nation by U.S. News and World Report. Anna joins an elite legacy at VU, which has maintained an impressive 100% pharmacy school acceptance rate for 17 consecutive years. With real-world experience already under her belt, from working as a pharmacy tech in the IV room at Good Samaritan Hospital to an internship at Rusch’s Southside Mart Pharmacy, this South Knox High School graduate is prepared to excel at one of the country's top-10 programs.

Below, Anna reflects on her VU journey, shares her career plans, what makes her a Trailblazer, and more.

Why did you choose to attend VU?

“I chose to attend Vincennes University because I wanted to begin my education in a smaller, more supportive environment. Coming from a small high school, I knew I would thrive in a setting where I could build strong connections with my instructors and peers. I was also drawn to the transfer pathway to Purdue University, which gave me the flexibility to explore my academic interests while keeping my long-term goals open. Attending VU has allowed me to grow both academically and personally while confirming that this path is the right fit for me.”

Why did you choose to study Chemical Sciences Pre-Pharmacy Concentration?

“I have a strong interest in Chemistry and plan to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry. This program has allowed me to complete all of my prerequisite coursework in preparation for pharmacy school, giving me a solid academic foundation for my future goals.”

What is your dream career?

“My dream career is to become a pharmacist. While I am still exploring which area of pharmacy I want to pursue, I am open to a variety of opportunities. This community has given me the chance to gain experience in both hospital and retail pharmacy settings. The more I learn and work in these environments, the more I appreciate the purpose of the profession and the ways it allows me to make a meaningful impact while continuing to grow.”

What are your best experiences as a VU student?

“One of my best experiences as a Vincennes University student has been meeting people from a wide range of backgrounds. Coming from a local high school, I expected to see mostly familiar faces, but that was not the case. I have met some of my closest friends here and built meaningful connections not only with peers but also with my professors, which has made my experience especially rewarding.”

What are your plans after graduating from VU?

“I was accepted into the Purdue University College of Pharmacy, and I plan to begin my first year of pharmacy school in Fall 2026.”

What honors or awards have you received as a VU student?

“I have been honored to receive two scholarships from the Vincennes University Foundation. I was awarded the Grabbe-Utley Scholarship, which is given to a student from a county school, and the Blue and Gold Academic Scholarship, which recognizes academic achievement based on GPA. I am very grateful for these opportunities, as they have helped me pursue my education and prepare for pharmacy school with less financial burden.”

What makes you a Trailblazer?

“What makes me a Trailblazer is achieving academic success in my hometown, with the support and encouragement of the people around me. At Vincennes University, I have faced challenges that pushed me outside of my comfort zone and forced me to become more disciplined and confident in my abilities. These experiences have prepared me for pharmacy school and shaped the way I approach my goals. I am driven to keep improving, take advantage of every opportunity, and continue building a future in pharmacy.”
