Welcome to the Creative Writing Club!

Welcome to the Creative Writing Club at Vincennes University! Our club provides a safe, encouraging, and collaborative space where student writers of all experience levels can share their ideas, refine their craft, and unleash their imaginations. Whether you write poetry, short stories, fantasy novels, scripts, or personal essays, the Creative Writing Club exists to foster your artistic growth and help you step out of your comfort zone.

What We Do & Our Purpose

The Creative Writing Club brings student authors together to sharpen their communication and storytelling skills through active, collaborative engagement.

• Collaborative Writing Workshops: Participate in peer feedback sessions where members share drafts, offer constructive encouragement, and explore new narrative techniques.

• Spring & Fall Campus Zines: Contribute original poetry, prose, and flash fiction to the club's biannual literary publication, giving student writers a platform to publish their work.

• Writing Prompts & Creative Exercises: Engage in fun, low-pressure writing prompts and timed challenges during meetings to overcome writer's block and try new genres.

• Open Mic & Literary Readings: Share your favorite original works or poetry in an informal, supportive group setting with fellow literature and storytelling enthusiasts.

Why Join the Creative Writing Club?

Joining the Creative Writing Club offers rewarding opportunities to grow as both a writer and a communicator:

• Constructive Peer Feedback: Receive thoughtful, supportive feedback on your writing projects in a safe environment designed to boost your confidence.

• Publication & Portfolio Building: Gain hands-on experience submitting and editing work for campus zines, creating tangible publications for your portfolio.

• Creative Motivation & Accountability: Stay inspired and motivated to complete your writing projects alongside a dedicated community of creative peers.

• Welcoming Artistic Community: Connect with fellow Trailblazers who share a passion for storytelling, literature, and creative self-expression.

Who Can Join?

The Creative Writing Club is open to all Vincennes University students, regardless of major, class standing, or writing background. Whether you are an English or Literature major, a Science or Technology student who writes for fun, or someone trying creative writing for the very first time, no prior experience is required—just bring your passion and ideas!
