Welcome to the Surveying Technology Club!

Welcome to the home of precision, outdoor exploration, and spatial technology at Vincennes University! The Surveying Technology Club brings together students who share a passion for land measurement, mapping, and advanced geomatics technology. Designed to build a supportive community both in and out of the classroom, our organization helps members cultivate lasting professional connections while navigating the unique rewards and challenges of the surveying field.

What We Do & Our Purpose

The Surveying Technology Club connects students with practical field experience, professional industry leaders, and a close-knit network of peers.

  • Hands-On Field Experience: Participate in unofficial community boundary location projects, property corner searches, and topographic mapping exercises that give members extra real-world practice with modern equipment.
  •
  • Industry Networking & ISPLS Engagement: Connect with licensed surveying professionals, alumni, and state organizations like the Indiana Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ISPLS) for career guidance and mentorship.
  •
  • Academic Support & Guidance: Provide study sessions, equipment troubleshooting, and peer encouragement to help students master surveying calculations and CAD software.
  •
  • Community Outreach & Philanthropy: Partner with other campus organizations and local communities on service initiatives, high school career demonstrations, and charitable projects.
  •

Why Join the Surveying Technology Club?

  • Professional & Industry Connections: Meet active land surveyors, engineering firms, and potential employers through club visits and state convention events.
  •
  • Advanced Technical Practice: Gain extra hands-on experience using advanced total stations, GPS equipment, GIS tools, and drone surveying software.
  •
  • Scholarship & Career Advancement: Access guidance and news regarding prestigious industry awards, including ISPLS scholarships and regional internship opportunities.
  •
  • Lifelong Peer Network: Build meaningful friendships with fellow students that extend far beyond graduation into your professional surveying career.
  •

Who Can Join?

While the club is primarily tailored to students enrolled in the VU Surveying Technology program, membership is open to all registered Vincennes University students interested in land surveying, mapping, civil technology, or architectural CAD. No prior surveying experience is require and anyone curious about mapping the physical world is welcome!
