Valedictorian/Salutatorian Academic Scholarship

Eligibility requirements

  • Minimum 3.3 GPA and maintained during scholarship term [semesters not cumulative]

  • Minimum 12 credit hours per semester

  • Must be a first-time student, high school graduate within the previous 18 months

  • Can be enrolled in any major

  • Indiana Academic Honors or Technical Honors high school diploma (or out of state equivalent)

  • Verification after end of school year. Award will be rescinded if honors diploma not indicated on final transcript.

  • High School rank first or second in graduating class

  • Additional SAT/ACT requirements for students with a high school class of 30 or LESS students

Award

  • Four semesters towards Associates Degree and additional four semesters for Baccalaureate degree

How Award Can be Used

  • Covers up to 18 hours of tuition/fees (basic fees, flight fees ineligible) and standard room and board (Vanderburgh & Clark Hall, private room and books not included)
  • OR 18 hours tuition and a $500 semester stipend if a commuter student. (A capped amount of unused funds created by the offset of aid packages can be used toward book fees.)
  • Books allowance for commuters
  • Extra housing expenses such as Vanderburgh or Clark Hall or a private room will be the student's responsibility

How to Apply

  • Complete the VU Admissions Application by January 15th each year for Priority Deadline. After this date, scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis.
  • Apply for or update your FAFSA
  • Recipients will be notified via email
