What Does External Relations do?
The External Relations Department serves as the official voice and image steward of the university. We are a centralized team responsible for shaping and sharing the institution’s story, driving positive public perception, and supporting strategic goals for enrollment, engagement, and outreach initiatives. We achieve this by leading all external advertising and comprehensive marketing campaigns designed to reach prospective students and families. Our team manages the release of official news and press releases, fields media inquiries, and ensures the university brand identity is visually and verbally consistent across all platforms.
Beyond external outreach, the department provides critical operational and support functions for the entire campus community. We produce all high-quality professional print materials, publications, and digital assets, ensuring that design work is both appealing and brand-compliant. We are also the team tasked with planning and executing high-profile institutional events, most notably our Commencement ceremonies. Finally, we maintain website integrity and content consistency by training and supporting the campus network of web editors, empowering staff to keep their departmental information current while adhering to university-wide design and accessibility standards.
