Respiratory Virus Guidance – Including COVID-19, flu, and RSV

Vincennes University aims to provide our community with the most up-to-date guidance to reduce the risk of respiratory viruses. The CDC has updated its Respiratory Virus Guidance, including COVID-19, Influenza (flu), and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). If a student or employee has tested positive for a respiratory virus, they should follow the current CDC guidelines –  Respiratory Virus Guidance.

2025 Respiratory Virus Guidelines: If you test positive for COVID and other respiratory viruses, you should stay home and isolate yourself from others, including household members who are not ill.

  • Plan to stay home until your symptoms are better overall and
  • Until you have been fever-free for 24 hours (and are not taking a fever-reducing medication).

Consider using additional precautions such as wearing a mask or physically distancing yourself for 5 days upon your return to normal activities, especially indoors or among co-workers who have an increased risk from respiratory illness.

Guidelines are subject to change if local regulations require it or if the number of COVID-19 cases increases.

It is the student's responsibility to notify their instructors to complete coursework and assignments.  The clinic does not issue excused absences.  Faculty and staff should contact their immediate supervisor.

If your illness worsens, such as respiratory distress, consider utilizing the local emergency department or calling 911.
