After High School Pathways
The Head Start is Already Real:
Your student isn’t just a high school student; they’re a Vincennes University Trailblazer. The credits sitting on your student’s transcript right now are currency. Whether they spend them at VU or “export” them to another campus, they’ve already cleared the hardest hurdle: starting.
Here is exactly how students can cash in on their hard work.
The Path of Least Resistance: Staying at VU
If your student likes the pace and the support they’ve received so far, staying at VU for their Associate degree is the smartest financial and academic move they can make. You and your student should talk with their admissions rep or dual credit rep for more information on how easy of a transition this can be!
GPA Momentum: Your students' college GPA has already started. If they’ve been pulling A's and B's in their dual credit courses, they will be entering with a competitive edge for scholarships.
The “2+2” Strategy: Students can even finish their first two years at VU for a fraction of the cost, earn an Associate degree, and then move to a major university that we have agreements with as a Junior. They’ll graduate with the same degree as their peers but with significantly less debt.
The Power of Portability: Transferring Credits
We’ve built our curriculum to be a “universal plug” for Indiana higher education with The Indiana College Core (ICC)
If you complete 30 credit hours in specific competencies (Math, Science, Writing, Humanistic Artistic, etc.), you earn the ICC Certificate.
The Guarantee: Under Indiana law, if you earn this 30-credit block at VU, it must be accepted as a satisfied General Education block at any Indiana public institution (IU, Purdue, Ball State, ISU, etc.).
The Savings: That is one full year of college finished before your student even steps foot on their campus.
The Core Transfer Library (CTL)
What if your student only took two or three classes? Use the CTL. These are courses
pre-approved by the state to transfer seamlessly between Indiana schools. If your
student's VU course is on the CTL list, it doesn't just transfer as “elective credit,”
it transfers as the equivalent course at their next school.
Meet Your Personal Guide
College admissions shouldn't feel like a chatbot. Your student has a dedicated VU Admissions Representative whose entire job is to help them with the process of joining one of our Vincennes University Campuses.
Credit Audits: Your student’s site has an Assistant Dean, Site Manager, or Site Directors who can sit down with you and your student and say, “You have 12 credits; here are the 48 you have left to get your degree.” Not only that, they can help develop what a path might look like going forward.
Campus Deep Dives: Schedule a Campus Visit and Learn More Here to see our specialized labs, aviation hangars, or nursing simulation centers.
Coursework to Career: Seeing what your student could do next.
Students are encouraged to think of their Dual Credit classes as “Level 1” of their professional life. Here is a small example of how those credits translate into high-earning career pathways in Indiana and beyond.
