We want dual credit to be the right fit for you. There’s no pressure, just possibilities. So, take some time and learn more about how the classes fit your schedule, the real commitment it takes, and how all of this can help your future.
Each dual credit course is a step toward a college degree. Students can graduate high
school with credits that save time and money later. VU’s National Accreditation and strong statewide partnerships mean that credits transfer
smoothly to many other colleges and universities. By managing college-level expectations early, dual credit students build critical
skills in areas such as time management, communication, and accountability. ![]()

Academic and Professional Confidence
Making a Commitment
At Vincennes University, we believe every student’s future begins with a commitment. A commitment to learning, to growth, and to opportunity. Through Project EXCEL and Early College, that commitment turns into real college credit and lifelong achievement. That’s why we ask each student to make a personal promise to themselves when starting this journey to keep that commitment.
A Students Commitment to Vincennes University Dual Credit
As a Vincennes University Dual Credit Student, I commit to a code of civilized behavior. I will practice personal academic integrity;
I will respect the dignity of all persons, including myself; I will respect the rights of others; I will not condone bigotry; I will strive for the openness to learn from differences in people, ideas and opinions;
I will demonstrate concern for others, their feelings, and their need for conditions which support their work and development.
Allegiance to these ideals requires me to refrain from behavior that threatens the freedom and respect every individual deserves.
I further commit the following:
To embody and practice the university’s motto: “Learn in Order to Serve.”
I will seek to learn not only for my own growth, but so that I may also make a positive impact in my community and in my future career.
I understand the commitment and acknowledge that the success in dual credit courses require the same time, effort, and commitment as a college student taking the same course at any campus location. I will complete the same assignments and meet the same academic expectations and rigor as any of my Vincennes University peers.
I further understand that the credits and grades that I earn through Vincennes University will become a permanent part of my college transcript. I’m committed to seeing that I get good grades.
I will always appreciate the value of this opportunity that Vincennes University and the State of Indiana has given me.
And I acknowledge and understand that the cost savings and head start that I gain today can ultimately grow into even great rewards and cost savings should I choose to continue to pursue a Certificate, Associates, or Bachelor’s Degree through Vincennes University.

Accessible, Affordable, & Achievable for All
More than 200 years ago, Vincennes University began as Indiana’s first college…a place where opportunity started early. From those beginnings, one idea has never changed: college should be accessible, affordable, and achievable for all.
That belief led VU to launch Project EXCEL in 1975, Indiana’s first dual credit program, allowing high school students to experience college learning in their own classrooms. Decades later, that same spirit of innovation gave rise to Vincennes University Early College, a statewide network of partnerships where students can earn a diploma and real college credit…even an associate degree…before high school graduation.
Today, VU continues to lead the way in connecting high school and college education. When you participate in Project EXCEL or Early College, you’re not just earning credits, you’re becoming part of a legacy of progress that began more than two centuries ago and continues to open doors for students across Indiana.
